Zündkerze
The life of a spark plug and its discoloring vary
according to the habits of the rider. A t each periodic
inspection,
replace
burned
or fouled
plugs
with
suitable ones determined by the color and condition of
the bad plugs.
One machine may be ridden only in urban areas at low
speeds. whereas another may be ridden for hours at
high speeds, so confirm what the present plugs
indicate by asking the rider how long and how fast he
rides, and recommend a hot, Standard or cold plug
accordingly.
It is actually economical to install new
plugs often since it will tend to keep the engine in
g o o d

and
prevent

fuel
consumption.

La longevite des bougies et l'aspect qu'elles presentent de-
pendent en grande partie des habitudes du pilote. Lors de
Tinspection periodique, remplacer les bougies si elles sont
grillees ou encrassees, en basant le choix des nouvelles
bougies sur la couleur et l'etat des bougies defectueuses.
Demander au client s'il circule surtout en ville, ä petite vi-
tesse, ou au contraire ä grande vitesse sur les autoroutes,
s'il fait souvent de Iongs voyages, etc. Suivant le cas, Iui
conseiller une bougie chaude, Standard ou froide.
II est economique de changer souvent les bougies, car cela
contribue ä maintenir le moteur en bon etat de marche, et
ä reduire la consommation d'essence.

Interpretation de l'aspect des bougies
1. Aspect ideal ... L a porcelaine presente une couleur
brun chocolat autour de l'electrode centrale. (Fig.
5-7)
2. Si les electrodes et le cöne central sont encrasses
noirs et presentent un aspect gras, il est peut-etre ne-
cessaire de monter des bougies plus chaudes. (Fig.
5-8)

Fahrers voneinander ab
Bei jeder regelmäßigen War-
tung sind verbrannte oder verrußte Zündkerzen, ents-
prechend der Farbe und dem Zustand der schlechten
Zündkerze, druch geeignete zu ersetzen. Eine M a -
schine wird vielleicht nur in geschlossenen Ortschaf-
ten mit niedrigen Geschwindigkeiten gefahren, wäh-
rend eine andere stundenlang mit hohen Geschwin-
digkeiten gefahren wird.
So ist der Kerzenzustand
durch Fragen des Fahrers zu bestätigen, wie lange und
wie schnell er fährt und entsprechend eine heiße, nor-
male oder kalte Zündkerze zu empfehlen.
Es ist
tatsächlich wirtschaftlich, die Zündkerze oft zu er-
neuern, denn dadurch wird der Motor in gutem Zu-
stand gehalten und ein zu hoher
Kraftstoffverbrauch
wird vermieden.

Beurteilung des Kerzenzustandes
1 Bestzustand ... Wenn der Kerzenstein um die Mit-
telelektrode herum eine hellbraune Farbe hat.

2 Wenn die Elektroden und der Kerzenstein sch-
warz und teilweise ölig sind, ist die Zündkerze den
Erfordernissen entsprechend durch eine heißere
zu ersetzen. (Bild 5-8)
