C. Spark plug
The spark plug indicates how the engine is operating.
If the engine is operating correctly. and the machine is
being ridden correctly, then the tip of the white insu-
lator around the positive electrode of the spark plug
will be a medium to light tan color. If the insulator is a
very dark brown or black color. then a hotter heat
ränge might be required. This Situation is qulte
common durlng the engine break-in period
If the insulator tip shows a very light tan or glazed
white color or if electrodes show signs of melting,
then a spark plug with a colder heat ränge is required.
Remember. the insulator tip of the spark plug must be
a medium-to-light tan color. If it is not. check carbu-
retlon. timing and Ignition adjustments
The spark plug must be removed and checked prior to
using the machine. Check electrode wear. insulator
color. and negative to positive electrode gap.
Spark plug gap:
0 24 ~ 0.28 in. (0.6 ~ 0.7 mm.)
C . Bougies
L'aspect des bougies permet de contröler la marche gene-
rale du moteur. Si le moteur marche bien et si la machine
est pilotee de fa<;on correcte, l'isolant porcelaine presen-
tera une couleur jaune fonce ou chocolat autour de l'elec-
trode centrale de la bougie. Si l'isolant est brun fonce ou
noir. il faut peut-etre monter une bougie plus chaude:
cette Situation apparait frequemment pendant la periode
de rodage. Un cöne central clair et cendre, avec electro-
des legerement perlees, denote une bougie trop chaude;
dans ce cas. il faudra monter un bougie plus froide.
Si le cöne central de la bougie ne presente pas l'aspect
normal, c'est ä-dire une couleur jaune fonce ou chocolat.
il faudra verifier la carburation et le calage de l'allumage.
Avant de remettre la machine au client, il faut toujours
enlever les bougies et les examiner. Contröler l'usure des
electrodes. l'aspect de l'isolant porcelaine et l'ecartement
des electrodes.
Ecartement des electrodes de bougie:
0,6 ~ 0,7 mm
C. Zündkerze
Die Zündkerze zeigt an wie der Motor arbeitet. W e n n
der Motor richtig arbeitet und die Maschine richtig ge-
fahren wird, dann hat das Ende des weißen Kerzen-
steins um die positive Elektrode herum eine mittel- bis
hellbraune Farbe Wenn der Kerzenstein sehr dunkel-
braun oder schwarz Ist. kann eine heißere Zündkerze
erforderlich sein Dieser Zustand tritt besonders wäh-
rend der Einfahrzeit ein Wenn das Ende des Kerzen-
steins eine sehr hellbraune Farbe aufweist oder glasig
weiß ist. dann Ist eine kältere Zündkerze erforderlich
Man achte darauf, daß das Ende des Kerzensteins eine
mittel- bis hellbraune Farbe hat Anderenfalls muß die
Vergaser- und Zündzeitpunkteinstellung überprüft
werden.
Die Zündkerze muß vor der Benutzung der Maschine
ausgeschraubt und geprüft werden. Dabei sind der
Elektrodenverschleiß, die Farbe des Kerzensteins und
der Elektrodenabstand zu prüfen
Elektrodenabstand:
0.6 ~ 0,7 mm
