When the engine is warm, the thermostatic
valve main valve is open and the bypass valve
is closed. Therefore, the coolant flows to the
radiator where it is cooled. After cooling, the
coolant flows through the outlet pipe and
thermostatic valve main valve to the water
pump, by which it is pumped to the engine
cylinder water jackets. (Fig. 2)

Inspection
1. Inspect the valve face for scratches or
other damage. Replace the thermostatic
valve if scratched or damaged.
2. Immerse the thermostatic valve in the
water as shown. While heating the
water, check the thermostatic valve
movement at each temperature as
tabulated. If the thermostatic valve does
not move or is out of specification,
it
should be replaced.
ContrOle
1. Contreler si les faces de clapet ne sant
pas rayees ou endommagees de maniere
quelconque.
Si elles sont rayees ou
endommagees, changer le thermostat.
2. Cornme illustre, immerger le thermostat
dans de Peau. Tout en chauffant l'eau,
contrOler le mouvement du clapet de
thermostat pour chaque temperature
indiquee. Si l'ouverture et la fermeture
du clapet de thermostat ne se font pas
comme specifie, changer le thermostat.

1. Das Ventil auf Kratzer und andere
Beschhdigungen absuchen. Wenn Kratzer
oder Beschadigungen festgestellt werden,
das Thermostatventil erneuern.
2. Das Thermostatventil gernal3 Abbildung
in Wasser tauchen. Das Wasser ervvarmen
und die Bewegungen des Thermostat-
ventils bei den aufgefahrten Tempera-
turen beobachten. Falls sich das Ther-
mostatventil nicht oder bei falschen
