9.4 Calibration on initial start-up
Volumetric measurement for the pump
The metering pump is calibrated at the site to the flow rate of the corresponding pump
type at nominal pressure. The corresponding flow rate and the nominal pressure are given
in the technical data in (see
operating manual.
The specified metering capacities in metering pumps are always determined under ideal
conditions (metering of water at 20 °C, short suction and metering pipes, rated back-
pressure, no pressure-boosting valves in the metering line).
Prior to calibration, it is essential that the EcoAdd is vented (see
Ä Chapter 9.3 'Venting the metering pump' on page 140 ) in order
to obtain correct measurement results.
Depending on the operating conditions (viscosity, temperatures, line
lengths, line cross-sections, back-pressure...), the actual metering
capacity at 100% may deviate from the rated metering capacity to
a greater or lesser extent. Performing a volumetric measurement of
the pump enables the actual dosage rate to be determined under the
prevailing on-site conditions.
We recommend the following measurement cylinder sizes for volumetric
measurement:
– 5l /h and 11 l/h: 250ml
– 30 l/h and 50 l/h: 1000ml
– 120 l/h: 2000ml
