Information on the bus master configuration with DeviceNet
13.1 Electronic Data Sheet (EDS)
The EDS Electronic Data Sheet is an ASCII file specified by ODVA
that describes the objects/performance data of the DeviceNet.
This file is on hand for the bus coupler with fieldbus protocol
and is called RXyyRMV4.EDS (yy = version).
The EDS file can be downloaded from the Internet at
www.aventics.com/mediadirectory.
13.2 Operating behavior
The behavior of the bus connection depends on the CAN and
DeviceNet characteristics as well as the I/O configuration.
As a "Group 2 Only Server" the bus coupler supports the
"Predefined Master Slave Connection Set" in accordance with
"DeviceNet Specification Volume I, Release 2.0".
13.2.1
Start-up behavior
After the assembly has been switched on (connecting the 24 V
logics supply), the hardware components are tested.
If the start-up test has been successfully completed and bus
voltage is available, the CAN controller is initialized according to
the presettings on the rotary and DIP switches.
A "Duplicate MAC ID Check" in accordance with the DeviceNet
specification is carried out at the end of the initialization stage
to check if there is a second participant with the same MAC ID
on the bus system.
The participant can then be initialized by a DeviceNet master.
If an error is found, the bus coupler is stopped (see "System
stop" on page 121).
