4-5 Piston Ring
1. Removing the Piston Ring
P u t y o u r t h u m b s at e a c h e n d o f t h e p i s t o n ring a n d
p u l l t h e p i s t o n ring e n d s a p a r t . R e m o v e t h e ring b y
m o v i n g t h e ring o f f t h e p i s t o n at the o t h e r side o f t h e
ring e n d s .
2 . Piston Ring Installation
It is i m p o r t a n t t o align t h e p i s t o n e n d gap w i t h t h e
l o c a t i n g p i n t h a t is i n t h e ring g r o o v e . B e sure t h a t
t h e m a r k i n g o n t h e p i s t o n ring faces u p w a r d .
3 . Checking the Piston Ring

t h e c y l i n d e r m a y result i n c o m b u s t i o n pressure
ieakage, o r s c o r e s , o r s p o t t y w e a r o n t h e c y l i n d e r
w a l l . T h e r e f o r e , w h e t h e r t h e " c o n t a c t " b e t w e e n
t h e p i s t o n rings a n d t h e c y l i n d e r l o o k s p r o p e r o r
n o t , t h e y s h o u l d be c h e c k e d b e f o r e t h e p i s t o n is
i n s t a l l e d .

4 - 5 Segments
1. Depose d u segment
A l'aide du pouce de chaque main, tirez sur les
extremites du segment. Faites le glisser hors du
piston par le c ö t e oppose aux extremites du segment.
2 . Mise en place du segment de piston
II convient d'aligner les extremites du segment avec
l'ergot de reperage place dans la rainure du segment.
L a marque gravee sur les segments doit etre tournee
vers le haut.
3 . Verification d u segment
1) Usure du segment
U n contact defectueux entre le piston et le
cylindre peut se traduire par des pertes de
pression de combustion, des rayures ou une usure
irreguliere de la paroi du cylindre. C'est
pourquoi i l sera procede ä une verification
minutieuse avant la remise en place du piston,
meme si le " c o n t a c t " entre les segments du
piston et le cylindre semble satisfaisant.

2 . Montage des Kolbenringes
E s ist w i c h t i g dass d i e S t o s s f u g e des K o l b e n r i n g e s a u f
d e n A n s c h l a g d e r K o l b e n r i n g n u t a b g e s t i m m t w i r d .
A c h t e n S i e d a r a u f , dass d i e M a r k i e r u n g a u f d e m
K o l b e n r i n g n a c h o b e n z e i g t .
3 . Überprüfung des Kolbenringes
1) K o l b e n r i n g v e r s c h l e i s s
E i n f a l s c h e r K o n t a k t z w i s c h e n d e n K o l b e n r i n g e n
u n d d e m Z y l i n d e r k a n n z u V e r b r e n n u n g s -
d r u c k v e r l u s t , F u r c h e n o d e r unregelmässigem V e r -
schleiss a n d e r Z y l i n d e r w a n d u n g f ü h r e n .
D e m z u f o l g e m u s s v o r d e m E i n b a u d e s K o l b e n s
ü b e r p r ü f t w e r d e n , o b d e r „ K o n t a k t " z w i s c h e n
d e n K o l b e n r i n g e n u n d d e m Z y l i n d e r r i c h t i g
a b s c h l i e s s t o d e r n i c h t .
