T h e 2 5 0 , 3 5 0 series e n g i n e a r e e q u i p p e d w i t h
Y a m a h a ' s s p e c i a l l y d e s i g n e d a l u m i n u m c y l i n d e r w i t h
a cast i r o n sleeve. T h i s s p e c i a l c y l i n d e r gives g r e a t l y
i m p r o v e d heat d i s s i p a t i o n . C o m b i n e d w i t h t h e 5 - p o r t
s y s t e m , t h e e n g i n e assures e x t r a high P e r f o r m a n c e .
T h e 5-speed t r a n s m i s s i o n is d e s i g n e d f o r s m o o t h gear
s h i f t i n g - o n t h e streets o r h i g h w a y s , o r o n h i l l y l a n d .
T o p r e v e n t t h e s h i f t e r f r o m b y - p a s s i n g t h e n e x t gear
w h e n a q u i c k o r h a r d s h i f t is m a d e , a s a f e t y d e v i c e is
p r o v i d e d , t h u s assuring a c c u r a t e s h i f t i n g .
T h e c r a n k c a s e is d e s i g n e d t o p e r m i t easier accessi-
b i l i t y f o r Service w o r k . W i t h o u t u s i n g s p e c i a l t o o l s , it
c a n be s p l i t i n t o t w o s e c t i o n s , u p p e r a n d l o w e r . T h e
e n g i n e s h o u l d be d i s a s s e m b l e d a n d r e a s s e m b l e d in a n
o r d e r l y s e q u e n c e t o m a k e t h e w o r k easier a n d m o r e
e f f i c i e n t . T h e p r o c e d u r e s o u t l i n e d h e r e a r e " e x -
a m p l e s " .
Le moteur 250, 3 5 0 est e q u i p ä du cylindre en
aluminium specialement congu par Yamaha, avec
chemise en f ö n t e . Ce cylindre special procure une
amelioration considerable de 1'efficacite de rayonne-
ment thermique. En combinaison avec le Systeme ä 5
lumieres, ce moteur offre des Performances extrem-
ement elevees.
La boite a 5 rapports est congue pour un passage des
vitesses en douceur, que ce soit en ville, sur route ou
en montagne. Pour eviter le depassement des vitesses
en cas de passage trop brusque ou trop dur, un
dispositif de securite a ätä mis au point pour assurer
un changement de vitesse precis dans tous les cas.
Le carter a ete etudie pour offrir une bonne accessi-
bilite aux diverses pieces. Ce Carter se divise en une
partie superieure et une partie inferieure, sans pour
autant necessiter Lutilisation d'outils speciaux. La
depose et la repose d u moteur seront effectuees dans
Lordre prescrit, pour rendre le travail plus facile et
plus efficace. Les Operations decrites ci-apres sont
fournies ä titre d'exemple:

Precautions ä prendre lors du demontage du moteur
1) Avant de demonter le moteur. i l faudra
soigneusement nettoyer la culasse, le cylindre et
le Carter, pour eliminer la poussiere et les autres
impuretes. Veillez surtout ä ne pas laisser la
poussiere p ä n ö t r e r dans le moteur pendant le
demontage.
2) Utilisez toujours des outils propres et de la
maniere a d ä q u a t e . Veillez ä ne pasendommager
les pieces.
3) Placez toutes les pieces d e m o n t ä e s dans des bacs,
par groupes. afin de faciliter le remontage
ultärieur.

Das 5 - G a n g g e t r i e b e w u r d e f ü r r e i b u n g s l o s e s S c h a l t e n

r u i e r t . U m z u v e r h ü t e n , dass d e r E i n r ü c k e r b e i m
s c h n e l l e n o d e r h a r t e n S c h a l t e n d e n n ä c h s t e n G a n g
ü b e r s p r i n g t ist e i n e S i c h e r h e i t s v o r r i c h t u n g ange-
b r a c h t , w o d u r c h e i n äusserst genaues S c h a l t e n d e r
Gänge g e w ä h r l e i s t e t w i r d .
