UHF components
By configuring the UHF components, antenna ports can
be activated or deactivated and the connected UHF
components can be described with regard to their physical
properties.
The physical properties are described via the antenna gain
and cable attenuation parameters. These parameters are
required by the processor unit to correctly calculate the
radiated transmitting power. The values can be taken from
the data sheets of the UHF components used.
The radiated transmitting power is subject to
national regulations and must therefore be
limited to the maximum permitted value. By
correctly specifying the antenna gain and the
cable attenuation, the processor unit can
perform the limiting independently and thus
ensure compliance with the regulations. Fur-
thermore, the correct calculation of the radiated
transmitting power also leads to reproducible
results if, for example, the antenna type or cable
length is changed.
When using BIS U-3xx antennas from Balluff
and BIS U-5xx antenna cables from Balluff, the
UHF components can be easily parameterized
via the UHF Manager configuration software or
the web server. The Balluff components can be
selected directly via their type designation. All
required parameters are then selected automa-
tically.
