3.1

General information about the processor unit

The BIS U-6127 processor unit together with a maximum
of four connectable UHF antennas of the BIS U-3... series
and UHF RFID data carriers of the BIS U-1... series form
the BIS U identification system from Balluff.
Depending on the country variant used (see information
sheet on conformity and approval), the antennas transmit
signals in a frequency range of 865 MHz...930 MHz and
communicate wirelessly with data carriers located in the
detection range of the antennas. Four antennas allow data
carriers to be detected and processed in different areas as
required. If, for example, all antennas are aligned to the
same detection range (gate application), this can be
enlarged and the detection reliability (depending on the
operating mode) increased.
Via the Gigabit Ethernet TCP/IP interface, the processor
unit can be integrated into a local network (LAN) and
controlled by a higher-level system. A web server is
available for configuration.
The BIS U-6127 supports the OPC UA protocol for RFID
readers via the TCP/IP interface. This standard primarily
supports the automated exchange of information between
industrial devices (M2M) (see chapter 9 on page 132).
An IO-Link master interface is available as an additional
interface, which enables direct integration of IO-Link
components and the input and output of switching signals.
The USB service interface provides service access directly
at the installation site without physically disconnecting the
processor unit from the network.
Function indicators on the device surface provide
information about the function and status of the device at
all times.
