Mounting of the UHF antennas (not included
in scope of delivery)
When selecting the installation location, care must be
taken to ensure sufficient distance from workplaces where
people are permanently present.
CAUTION
Ultra high frequency electromagnetic waves
The antennas of the identification system BIS U transmit
ultra-high frequency electromagnetic waves. Additional
measures must be taken to prevent health hazards.
► Determine the mounting position of the antennas in
such a way that a safety distance of at least 20 cm
between the antennas and workplaces of persons is
ensured.
► Use suitable measures to shield areas that are
explicitly not to be covered.
For details on mounting the antennas, see the data sheet
of the antenna used.
Align the antennas so that the main beam direction of the
antenna is aligned with the location where data carriers are
to be detected. The maximum size of the detection range
depends on the transmitting power and the aperture angle
of the antenna. Larger detection ranges (such as
gateways) may only be completely covered by using
several antennas.
To ensure the proper functioning of the identification
system, the detection range of the antenna and, in
particular, the line of sight between the antenna and the
data carrier must be free of electromagnetically effective
materials (e.g. metal, liquids,...), as these can influence the
detection range of the antenna and reduce the maximum
range of the RFID system or make it more difficult to detect
data carriers.
Areas that are explicitly not to be covered must be
shielded by suitable measures.

4.5
Mounting of the UHF data carriers (not
included in scope of delivery)
For details on mounting the data carriers, see the data
sheet for the data carriers used.
When mounting data carriers, it should be noted that
electromagnetically effective materials in the immediate
vicinity of the data carrier can reduce the maximum range
of the RFID system or make it more difficult to detect data
carriers. This applies, for example, when mounting data
carriers on metallic surfaces or containers with
electromagnetically effective contents (e.g. metal,
liquids,...).
Information about whether mounting on metallic surfaces
is permissible can be taken from the data sheet of the data
carrier. If necessary, suitable spacers must be used.
A high data carrier density also makes identification
difficult, e.g. if the data carriers are only a short distance
apart or overlap.
