Data carriers that respond to queries from the processor
unit prefix the data with a preamble that is used by the
processor unit for synchronization. In addition, a pilot tone
can be transmitted, which can improve synchronization
between the data carrier and the processor unit in
electromagnetically stressed environments.
Adjustable values:

0 or 1
For reasons of process reliability, it is advisable
to leave the pilot tone switched on. In very
time-critical applications, switching off the pilot
tone may result in a slight time advantage.
Modulation

Setting the modulation method used for radio transmission
between the processor unit and the data carrier.
Not all modulation methods are available in
every country variant of the device.
Adjustable values:
Length
Permissi-
[bits]
ble values
8
0 or 1
Changing the modulation method is normally
not necessary. In electromagnetically stressed
environments, the change can be helpful if the
default setting does not provide satisfactory
results.

Variable RFPower

nas & power
This parameter is used to specify which transmitting power
(in dBm) the processor unit is to set for read operations
after switching on or after a restart. The transmitting power
is to be understood as radiated power (ERP or EIRP) and
is transferred as parameter value in quarter-dBm.
Parameter value = P(dBm) × 4
The following parameters must also be set for correct
adjustment of the radiated transmitting power. The
required data can be taken from the data sheets of the
UHF antenna and the antenna cable used.
Antenna gain
Antenna aperture angle
Antenna polarization
Cable attenuation
Adjustable power:
7...36 dBm (corresponds
to 5 mW...4000 mW)

The maximum permissible transmitting power
(ERP/EIRP) depends on nationally applicable
regulations. Information on the maximum
permitted transmitting power can be found in
the information sheet on conformity and appro-
vals.
Depending on the device variant, the specifica-
tions for transmitting power are to be under-
stood as ERP (Equivalent Radiated Power) or
EIRP (Equivalent Isotropically Radiated Power)
values. The respective valid information can be
found in the information sheet on conformity
and approvals.
