6.4. MAINTENANCE BYPASS

This is necessary for maintenance work, as well as for commissioning and putting in and
taking out of service. With this mode selected, the loads continue to be supplied without
interruption whatever switching actions are carried out. For Maintenance Bypass operation
the power switches QS1 to QS4 must be switched OFF. These switches are located on the
front of the UPS. After having removed the front panel, the location of the switches can be
seen, as in the following figures:

Warning
During parallel operation of UPS units, the load switching function of the built-in service bypass
should be carried out by an external switching device (see "Parallel operation" on page 47).
