Using OPC UA

As from hardware version 2.0 and firmware version 1.4, OPC UA (Open Plat-
form Communications Unified Architecture) is provided on Ethernet port X1 (on
the top of the device – see "Available connections and LEDs" on page 24). The
OPC UA micro-profile is implemented in the ClipX; most OPC UA tools are suit-
able for configuration purposes. You can use both OPC clients and OPC Scada
systems with the ClipX.
After enabling (Enable OPC UA), you are offered two alternatives for the end-
point URL: with IP address or with device name. Copy one of the endpoint URLs
for your software. You might have to add domain information to the URL con-
taining the device name, for example turning
opc.tcp://clipxdc:4840/hbk/clipx
into
opc.tcp://clipxdc :4840/hbk/clipx

.mycompany.com
Authentication
Authentication is by user name and password. You can use two user names.
The name must comprise between 1 and 15 characters. It is applied immedi-
ately after any change. For the password, 0 to 11 characters are allowed, mean-
ing you can also leave it blank. Click CHANGE PASSWORD to apply the
change. Then enter one of the user names and the password in your OPC UA
client.
