Filters with Bessel characteristic create no signal distortion, but have a rel-
atively flat frequency response. Butterworth filters produce overshoot of the
filtered signal in response to rapid signal changes, but do damp unwanted
frequencies more effectively.
An IIR filter is a filter with (theoretically) infinite impulse response, as opposed to a finite
impulse response (FIR) filter. The filter type is also referred to as a linear shift invariant
(LSI) filter. Many of the commonly used filters are based on this type, including Bessel
and Butterworth filters.
If the source signal is invalid, no further values are calculated. The output signal is indi-
cated as invalid. As soon as the source signal is valid again, new values are calculated.
The calculation is not reset however, so you must wait at least the phase delay time for
the calculation to resettle.

Filter (FIR)
Alternative low-pass filter. The cut-off frequency must be between 2 and 100 Hz; the
phase delay in ms is approximately 550/cut-off frequency in Hz.
You can use this calculation function only one time.
An FIR filter is a finite impulse response filter, as opposed to an infinite impulse
response (IIR) filter. This filter type uses only a limited amount of data to calculate the
filter result. This means FIR filters cannot become unstable, regardless of the filter
parameters, and so cannot be induced to oscillate autonomously.
If the source signal is invalid, no further values are calculated. The output signal is indi-
cated as invalid. As soon as the source signal is valid again, new values are calculated.
The calculation is not reset however, so you must wait the phase delay time for the cal-
culation to resettle.
