Using PPMP

Running OPC UA and PPMP simultaneously is not possible. But you can run
PPMP simultaneously with a fieldbus.
PPMP (Production Performance Management Protocol) is an Industry 4.0 protocol
defined by Bosch for communication between IoT devices. It is provided as from firm-
ware version 2.8 at Ethernet port X1 (on the top of the device – see
tions and LEDs" on page
PPMP always goes from the device to the receiver. The receiver is termed a server and,
in the simplest case, provides a REST API. A REST API (Representational State Transfer
– Application Programming Interface) is a programming interface that enables data
exchange on distributed systems.
Settings
After enabling (choose Network -> IoT protocol: Production Performance Management
Protocol (PPMP)), enter the following parameters:
The Device ID. This is a unique identifier of the sender for the receiver. The default
setting is the device name, e.g. clipx, plus the last four characters of the MAC
address. This device ID must match in the ClipX and in the receiver, as must the
channel names, because the receiver only identifies the measurement channels by
this information.
Example: clipx-1a-2b.
The endpoint URL including the port number (optional). The URL must start with
http; https is not supported. If the port is missing in the URL, port 80 is assumed.
Example: http://51.144.122.171:8800/ppm/v2/measurement. The receiver address
here is 51.144.122.171, and the port is 8800. The further path (ppm/v2/measure-
ment) also depends on the receiver, i.e. your application.
Send interval: A packet containing the measured values is sent after this time at the
latest. But the packet is sent earlier if the measured value buffer is full. This means
no gaps occur in the measured value flow. Long send intervals will result in large
packets however.
Sampling interval: The measured values are sampled at this rate, and buffered until
they are transferred (Send interval). The interval is a multiple of 10 ms, and applies
to all channels. Note that an alias effect can occur with long intervals relative to the
measured frequency (Whittaker-Kotelnikow-Shannon sampling theorem, or often
also referred to as Nyquist theorem for short).
