5.8. Software Installation

The navigation software is pre-installed on the Electromagnetic Navigation Unit. To ensure
correct operation of the medical device, it is necessary to carry out only controlled changes
to the system during the service life. A corresponding process as defined in IEC 80001
should be used and access to the system should be restricted by password protection. In
particular:
– Only allow access to the computer on secured networks.
– Only install updates on the computer on the basis of their relevance to safety.
CAUTION
Due to safety reasons, the navigation software should only be installed by Stryker. This is
the only way to ensure that all components are optimally compatible with each other.
Note: Do not install any third party software on the computer without consulting
Stryker.

5.9. Initial Operation

Note: Before first use of the system, make sure that the Electromagnetic Navigation
Unit and all other system components are connected correctly.
1. Turn on the Electromagnetic Navigation Unit by pushing the power button located on
the front of the unit.
Note:
– Before the first use of the Scopis ENT Software, refer to the Scopis ENT Software
manual regarding installation, configuration, and setup.
– If you are asked for a serial number during the software's initial operation, contact
Stryker, referencing the shown system-ID.
2. Start the Scopis ENT Software via the shortcut on the Windows Desktop (skip this step
if your machine is operating in kiosk mode; in this mode, the navigation software will
start automatically upon booting the navigation system).
Note: The software conducts a fully automated compatibility inspection. In the case of
incompatibilities, contact Stryker.
3. Click on the application logo in the upper left corner. The software's About dialog will
open. Make sure that the software version and part number correspond with the soft-
ware manual and Stryker ENT Navigation System manual.
