Brush Wear
1. Measure the brush length.
2. If the length is less than the allowable limit, replace it.

Brush Holder
1. Check the continuity across the brush holder and holder
support with an ohmmeter.
2. If it conducts, replace it.
Armature Coil
1. Check the continuity across the commutator and arma ­
ture shaft with an ohmmeter.
2. If it conducts, replace it.

Field Coil
1. Check the continuity across the lead and brush with an
ohmmeter.
2. If it does not conduct, replace the yoek.
3. Check the continuity across the brush and yoke with an
ohmmeter.
4. If it conducts, replace the yoke.
