Pump Element Fuel Tightness
1. Install the p ..essure tester (See page S-53) to the fuel in
jection pump.
2. With the speed control lever at the maximum position of
the fuel injection, rotate the flywheel to raise the fuel
pressure to 39.23 MPa (400 kgf/cm
2
,
5689 psi).
3. Measure the falling time of the fuel pressure from 39.23 to
34.32 MPa (from 400 to 350 kgf/cm
2
,
from 5689 to 4978
psi).
4. If the measurement is less than the allowable limit, replace
the pump element or the injection pump assembly.
• IMPORTANT:
• After replacing the pump element, adjust the amount of
the fuel injection on the specified test bench.
