Overrunning Clutch
1. Tap in the stop ring (3).
2. Remove the retainer ring (2).
3. Remove the stop ring (3) and the overrunning clutch (1).
(When reassembling)
• Install the stop ring first, then the retainer ring, and then
pull up the stop ring with a puller.

Lubrication
Before reassembling, lubricate the following.
(1) Bearings in the end frames and the washers.
(2) Sliding surface between the armature shaft and over ­
running clutch. (with low viscosity oil)
(3) Shift lever where it engages with the plunger and the
overrunning clutch.
(4) Plunger where it contacts with solenoid housing.
SERVICING
Armature Coil
1. Place the armature on a growler to check for the short
circuits, and slowly rotate the armature holding an iron
piece above the core.
2. If the iron piece vibrates against the core, replace the
armature.
3. Check the continuity across each segment of the com­
mutator and the armature shaft.
4. If continuous, replace the armature.
