Extended Functions
The basic function as described above can be extended by programming additional LNCVs.
Co-ordination with the entry manager
In the description so far, the entry and exit managers have been working completely inde-
pendently of each other. In this way, the exit manager has no idea which loco has just arri-
ved with the entry manager and is still awaiting entry into a vacant track. It may well be, that
the exit manager allows a few other trains to leave the station before the destination track of
the waiting train is emptied. In situations involving stations with lots of tracks and the block
system having relatively few block sections, there is always the danger that the rail traffic
could come to a complete standstill because no track for the arriving train has been cleared,
whilst at the same time, a vehicle in the exit manager's area cannot depart because all the
block sections have become occupied.
This problem can be solved by an entry in LNCV13: here, the exit manager will be informed
of the address of the entry manager. Additionally, in LNCVs 22-29, 32-39 to 112-119 the
same train-track allocation as held by the entry manager will be transferred to the exit mana-
ger. Now before the exit manager clears a track as described in the sequence above, (chro-
nologically or randomly) it will ask the entry manager first, which loco-address or category is
still waiting for entry into a vacant track. If it discovers that its destination track is currently
occupied, it will break into its normal track selection routine and empty the track for the
waiting train first.
