8.2.3 Switching Loco Functions

The 10 commands for the functions like headlights (f0) or Sound- or all the other special
functions (f1 to f12) are incorporated in the LNCVs 20 to 49. Thus giving:
LNCV 20 – 29: Vehicle addresses for function commands
LNCV 30 – 39: Values for functions
LNCV 40 – 49: Mode for functions
The LNCVs which will make up a command are always differentiated by a value of 10 from
each other. For example: the specifications for the first command will be found in the LNCVs
(20, 30, 40), those for the second command in the LNCVs (21, 31, 41) and so on. This is pro-
bably best illustrated by means of a table in which each column represents a command:
Operational style 2 – LNCV-numbers for function commands with double-sensors. All com-
mands are available at the installation location of both sensors:
LNCV-numbers for function commands with double-sensors
Command Nr.
LNCV-Nr/Addr.
LNCV-Nr/Value
LNCV-Nr/Mode
Operational style 3 – LNCV-numbers for speed commands with 2 single sensors. At each
installation location of one sensor, 5 functions are available:
LNCV-numbers for function commands with single-sensors
Commmand Nr.
LNCV-Nr/Addr.
LNCV-Nr/Value
LNCV-Nr/Mode
Once the navigation receiver has recognised the address and category of a navigation trans-
mitter, it will search through the LNCVs 20 – 29 in ascending order (likewise 20 – 24 or
25 – 29, according to the sensor and operational style), to ascertain whether a special com-
mand exists for this address or category or whether there is a command for the general
address. You should program in this sequence, because there are differing priorities between
the three possibilities, first the commands for the general address, then for the category and
then finally for the individual addresses. In chapter 9.3 you will discover how these priorities
can be utilised in the arrangement of the operations.
Function Values
In order to, for example, turn the lights on or off (function f0) for a loco equipped with a
TWIN- or DCC-decoder, then the function key on the TWIN-CENTER [function] similarly [off]
needs to be pressed. If the decoder has further functions available, (i.e. a Sound-Decoder:
Sound on/off, whistle, pump, inertia off, etc.), then you can call up all these additional func-
tions by using the function keys [f1] to [f4] and then by first pressing the [lok#] key as a shift
key to access the functions [f5] to [f8] on the TWIN-CENTER.
