Absolute speed, values: 0 – 127:
In general, the speed steps will be entered in the value parameters from 0 to 127. If you are
running your vehicle with 14, 28 or another speed step value, then these values must be con-
verted to suit the parameters 0 – 127. For example: when running in 14 speed steps, then the
value should be multiplied by 9, when running in 28 speed steps, then the value should be
multiplied by 4.5. Because the multiplication by 4.5 will not always give a whole number, then
it must be rounded up to the next whole number.
Advice
In DCC-speed mode with 128 speed steps, the speed steps are numbered from 0 to
127. The speed step 0 is standing still as a normal, any braking manoeuvres will be car-
ried out by referring back to the internal inertia values set in the decoder. According to
the DCC-standard, speed step 1 is an emergency stop without reference to the inertia.
The remaining speed steps 2 – 127 will be transposed by the TWIN-CENTER to speed
steps 1 – 126.
Relative Speed, values 0 – 255:
Speeds can be entered as percentages of the actual speed within the parameter from 0% to
255%. 50% means halfing the speed, 200% means doubling the speed. When entering
speed as a percentage, you need not be concerned as to whether you are currently running
your loco with 14, 28 or 128 speed steps.
Mode for Speed
In the LNCV for the mode will also be determined how for example, the speed alteration will
be carried out, which means that the command will now be put in concrete form. The pro-
grammed value is made up of the addition of the various mode-values (see section A.5: Bits
and Bytes). In the mode value, you can for example, select: in which direction over the sen-
sors the speed command shall be activated, whether it will be an absolute or relative speed,
etc. The following table will show you all the possibilities of the speed modes.
