8.3.4 Block System

Basic Function
Here's how to set up an automatic block system (diagram 16).
Diagram: Block System
A block system consists of at least 3 block sections. Each block section will be protected by
one navigation receiver. You can always run one train less than there are block sections avai-
lable. Accepting a loco into a section is dependent on the condition of the signal at the exit
end of the block section, which can also be considered to be the entry signal into the next
block section.
The following sequence will be activated in each block, assuming of course, that the signal
at the exit end of the block section is set at red:
The loco, or similarly, the whole train, runs over the sensor of the navigation receiver. It
(the whole train) is therefore standing completely within the block with the signal Z
Signal Z at the exit end of the block is set at red, the loco will gently brake with its own
set inertia until coming to a halt
Signal Y of the previous block section, from which the loco has just come, will be set to
red
Signal X of the block section which has now just become vacant will be set to green
The loco will wait until signal Z goes to green
Signal Z goes to green (set by a sequence in another block, or manually from the TWIN-
CENTER)
The loco starts off again, accelerating to its original determined speed and runs into the
next block section
As soon as the train is completely within the next block section, signal Z must be set
back to red again
