Operation
Prerequisites
The eBike system can only be activated when the following
requirements are met:
– A sufficiently charged battery is inserted (see battery op-
erating instructions).
– The speed sensor is connected properly (see drive unit
operating instructions).
Before initial commissioning
Before first use, remove the protective film from the
u
display screen in order to ensure the full functionality
of the control unit. If the protective film remains on the
display screen, this can impair the functionality/perform-
ance of the control unit.
Control Unit Power Supply (Kiox 400C)
If a sufficiently charged eBike battery is inserted into the
eBike and the eBike is switched on, then the internal control
unit battery is powered and charged.
If the internal battery of the control unit is very low, you can
charge it via the charging port (10) using a USB Type-C®
cable with a power bank or USB charger.
Charging External End Devices
The charging port (10) is also designed for charging compat-
ible end devices.
Note: Please note that, depending on how the eBike com-
ponents are assembled, charging may not be possible or
only to a limited extent.
To do this, switch on the eBike, open the protective cap (9)
of the charging port (10) and connect the end device.
The USB Type-C® cable can get caught in the front
u
wheel while riding. This can lead to accidents with un-
foreseeable consequences. Before travelling, make sure
that all cables are packed away neatly.
When charging, observe the following instructions:
– Only charge in dry conditions.
– Only charge one end device at a time.
– Check that the charging connection is clean before con-
necting it.
– Make sure that the end device is compatible with the spe-
cified values (current and voltage).
– Depending on the charging power, having end devices
connected may impact the range.
– Always close the protective cap (9) on the charging con-
nection (10) when you are not using it to charge external
end devices so that no dust or moisture can enter.
Control Unit (Mini Remote/Mini Remote
Dropbar) Power Supply
The Mini Remote/Mini Remote Dropbar control unit is sup-
plied with energy by a CR1620 coin cell.

Changing the Coin Cell (Mini Remote/Mini Re-
mote Dropbar) (see figure A)
If the coin cell of the Mini Remote/Mini Remote Dropbar
control unit (1) is running low, the LED indicator light (5) will
flash orange.
To replace the coin cell, open the fastening screw for the
holder (4) with a hex key (3 mm) and remove the Mini Re-
mote/Mini Remote Dropbar control unit from the handle-
bars.
Open the metal tab (16) with a cross-headed screwdriver
and remove the battery cover (17).
Remove the used coin cell and insert a new type CR1620
coin cell into the battery compartment with the label facing
upwards. The LED indicator light (5) will flash green to indic-
ate that the coin cell has been inserted correctly.
Close the battery compartment with the battery cover (17).
Check that the battery cover (17) is correctly inserted to en-
sure that the battery compartment is closed securely.
Close the metal tab (16) again by carefully tightening the
fastening screw for the metal tab (18) (0.15 Nm). Then se-
cure the Mini Remote/Mini Remote Dropbar control unit
onto the handlebars.
Note: Carefully tighten the fastening screw for the holder (4)
(0.6 Nm).
Note: The connection to the Kiox 400C is not interrupted
when the coin cell is changed.
Switching the eBike On and Off
To switch on the eBike, briefly press the on/off button (11)
on the Kiox 400C control unit. The eBike is ready to ride
once the start-up animation is complete.
The display brightness is controlled by the ambient light
sensor (13). Therefore, do not cover the ambient light
sensor (13).
The drive is activated as soon as you start pedalling (except
in the OFF riding mode). The drive power varies depending
on the riding mode set.
As soon as you stop pedalling when in normal operation, or
as soon as you have reached a speed of 25 km/h, the drive
switches off the assistance. The drive is automatically react-
ivated as soon you start pedalling again and the speed is be-
low 25 km/h.
To switch off the eBike, briefly press the on/off button (11)
(< 3 s).
If no power is drawn from the drive for about 10 minutes
(e.g. because the eBike is not moving) and no button is
pressed, the eBike will switch off automatically.
Operation
The functions of the buttons on the Kiox 400C control unit
and on the Mini Remote/Mini Remote Dropbar control unit
can be found in the following overview.
Depending on how long it is pressed for, the select button
has two functions.
