f. Refill pump with new drug concentration.
g. Schedule patient for reprogramming based on the duration of bolus
calculated in Step 2.
h. When patient returns for reprogramming, enter new drug concentration
and enter the desired rate in the Simple Continuous Mode.
When the old drug is through the catheter, the patient will

begin to receive the new lower drug concentration at the slow
rate of the previous concentration. The patient needs to be
reprogrammed to prevent being underdosed.

1. Determine the bolus dose.
Bolus Dose = 0.47 ml x 500 µg/ml = 235 µg
2. Determine the bolus duration.
Bolus Duration = 2000 µg/ml x 0.47 ml = 75 hours
3. Enter the bolus dose (235 µg), the duration (75 hours), and the Simple
Continuous Rate/day (300 µg).
4. Perform telemetry to update the pump. The bolus will begin
immediately following telemetry. When the bolus is finished, the pump
begins dispensing the Simple Continuous prescription.
5. Verify the new prescription on the Pump Status After Update Screen.
