Pump Status

The pump's programmed parameters, referred to as the pump status, can be
retrieved and displayed by the programmer. The pump status includes: patient
identification, drug name, drug concentration, units of measure (metrology),
calibration constant, infusion mode, dose, dispense rate, reservoir volume, alarm
status, and the date and time of the last change.
For SynchroMed EL pumps, the pump model number, reservoir volume, and
presence of side catheter access port
Screen if interrogated with Version 3.0A Software or a more recent version of
software.
The calibration constant, printed on the sterile package, is the number of
electrical pulses required by the peristaltic mechanism to dispense one microliter
of fluid. The constant is determined for each pump and stored in the
microprocessor during manufacturing. In a normally functioning pump, the
calibration constant will not change. During programming, the value is retrieved
and used by the programmer to set the pump's infusion rates.
After reading the pump status, if the calibration constant displayed
on the programmer's screen is different from the calibration constant
value printed on the sterile package, contact your local Medtronic
representative.
When interrogated by the programmer prior to implantation, the pump transmits
information programmed during the manufacturing process (See Table 4).
