24 Instructions for Use
Sterile Procedures
1. Open sterile package and remove the pump.
2. Remove the protective cap from the catheter port of the pump and observe
fluid discharging from the catheter port. This indicates that the pump is
functioning.
NOTE: If the pump is not adequately warmed, you may not observe
fluid in Step 2.
3. Place the pump in a warm bath of sterile water or saline to warm the pump
(Figure 2). The addition of antibiotic to the bath is optional.

NOTE: The warm bath is used to warm the pump and maintain
temperature and proper reservoir pressure of the pump
during the Purge Bolus and the empty/fill procedure.
Replenish the warm water every 5 - 10 minutes to maintain
temperature.
4. If fluid was not observed during Step 2, look for air bubbles while the pump
is submerged in the warm bath; this will indicate the pump is functioning.
CAUTION: Do not implant the pump unless fluid was observed being
discharged at the catheter port during Step 2, or unless
bubbles were observed being discharged from the catheter
port during Step 4 while submerged in the warm bath.
NOTE: If fluid or air bubbles have not been observed being
discharged from the catheter port, repeat the Purge Bolus
using sterile programming techniques.
5. After the pump has been warmed and purged, proceed to Emptying and
Filling the Pump that follows.
