18 Cleaning and maintenance

18.1 General information

Before cleaning or maintenance, switch off the speed controller and completely disconnect both drive batteries from
the vehicle. Then switch off the transmitter. If you have just stopped using the vehicle, allow all parts (e.g. motor, speed
controller, drive batteries) to cool down completely. Then remove the drive batteries from the vehicle.
After driving, clean the whole vehicle from dust and dirt, e.g. use a long-haired clean brush and a vacuum cleaner (but
be careful so that small parts are not sucked into the vehicle). Compressed air sprays can also help to remove dirt.
Do not use any cleaning sprays or conventional household cleaners or other chemicals. These may dam-
age the electronic components and discolour the plastic parts or body or cause corrosion of aluminium
parts.
Never wash the vehicle with water (e.g. with a garden hose or a high-pressure cleaner)!
A soft, slightly dampened cloth can be used to wipe the body. Do not rub too hard, as this may result in scratch marks.

18.2 Before and after each use

Motor vibrations and impacts during vehicle operation may cause certain parts and screw fittings to become loose.
Before and after every vehicle operation, always check that all screw connections on the vehicle are secure and that
tyres and rims are in sound condition.
Check the vehicle for any signs of damage before and after each use. If there are any signs of damage, discontinue
use immediately.
Only use genuine spare parts when replacing worn vehicle parts (e.g. tyres) or defective vehicle parts.

18.3 Changing a tyre

The tyres are glued to the wheel rims and cannot be removed. Therefore, if a tyre is worn, the entire wheel must be
replaced.
After loosening the wheel nut, pull the wheel off the wheel axle.
Attach the new wheel so that the hex socket on the inside of the wheel rim fits exactly over the wheel hub nut .
The two wheels of the rear axle are wider than those of the front axle. Ensure the wheels are mounted in
the correct position.
Tighten the wheel on the wheel axle with the wheel nut removed earlier, but do not use force when tightening.
Ensure the wheel nut is positioned correctly, with the grooved side
(see figure on the right) pointing towards the rim.
