8.20.1 Updating Window s® on the CAM com-
puter
If the maintenance interval for Windows
expired, the corresponding maintenance task displays
in the maintenance section.

If you see this task in the maintenance section, check
for Windows updates immediately. After updating

Windows , mark the maintenance task as complete.

You can search for and install Windows
updates also when the maintenance task
doesn't display. This will not reset the main-
tenance interval.
Updates may take several hours. During this
time, you cannot operate the machine.
Checking for Windows updates
1. Access the internal CAM computer via a Remote
Desktop connection or hardware.

2. On the desktop, double-click the Update & security
icon.
3. If the icon is missing, open the Windows
and select Update and Security.
Windows lists all available updates. If no updates
®
display, you are finished.
4. Select [Check for updates].
5. Download and install all available updates.
6. Wait until the update is complete. This may require
several reboots of the CAM computer.
7. Shut down the internal CAM computer.
8. Switch off the machine at the main power switch.
Wait for 10 seconds. Switch on the machine at the
main power switch.
9. Press the start button.
10. Repeat the whole procedure until no Windows
updates are available.

1. Check for updates via the touchscreen
(optional).
2. Access the CAM computer.
3. Download the update via DENTALCNC.

4. Configure the update and follow the installation
wizards.
5. Mark the corresponding maintenance task as
complete.
Checking for DENTALCAM & DENTALCNC
updates via the touchscreen
1. To open the Home section, select the
depicted icon.
2. To open the Maintenance section, select
the depicted icon.
If a DENTALCAM & DENTALCNC update is avail-
able, the corresponding maintenance task displays.
3. Continue with downloading and starting the
update. After updating DENTALCAM &
DENTALCNC, mark the maintenance task as com-
plete.
Downloading and starting DENTALCAM &
DENTALCNC and firmware updates
New firmware versions will be automatically installed
after a new DENTALCAM & DENTALCNC version has
been downloaded via the automatic update function.
The firmware is the internal control software of your
machine. New versions may introduce new functions
and improve existing ones. New firmware versions
come as part of new versions of DENTALCNC.
Damaging of the control unit
NOTICE
when a firmware update is
interrupted
If the firmware update is interrupted, the control unit
of the machine may become permanently damaged.
Only update the firmware if a permanent electrical
supply of the machine and the computer is guar-
anteed.
Only update the firmware if the computer's oper-
ating system is stable and is free of malware.
Only update the firmware if the connection between
the computer and the machine is stable. Always use
a wired connection during the update.
Do not disconnect the machine or the computer
from the electrical source nor switch off the machine
or computer during a firmware update.
Do not close DENTALCNC during a firmware
update.
You can start the automatic download of new
DENTALCAM & DENTALCNC versions as follows:
