Z4 – Installing the machine
TRIOS Design Studio
This CAD application uses the standard DENTALCAM
folder for sending objects to the machine.
Integration overview:
1. Install the machine in the TRIOS Design Studio
settings.
2. Test the connection with TRIOS Design Studio.
The following instructions were written for
TRIOS Design Studio version 19.3.1. They may
not apply to other versions.
The integration in detail:
1. License the following products from 3Shape:
Trios Base
n
Trios Restoration
n
Anatomy Design
n
The CAMBridge module CAM 3DD for VHF Z4
n
2. Prepare the machine and CAD computer.

4. Plug the 3Shape-dongle into the CAD computer.
5. Access the CAD computer.
6. Open TRIOS Design Studio.
7. In the menu bar, select More. In the drop-down
menu, select the Settings icon (
).

8. In the settings menu, open the CAM sub-menu.
9. In the sub-menu, select General.

The general CAM settings display on the right side.
10. Locate the Installed machines section.
a. Check if the Z4 is already listed in this section.
b. If the Z4 is already listed, select [Remove]. Con-
firm your choice.
11. Locate the Supported mills and printers section.
The Z4 must be listed in this section. If it isn't, you
may need to obtain a license from 3shape for the
Z4.

12. In the line for the Z4, select [Install].
TRIOS Design Studio prompts you to enter the
machine serial number.
13. Enter the machine serial number. Press <E

The following happens:
a. TRIOS Design Studio configures the CAD/CAM
integration.
b. If the automatic configuration fails, the applic-
ation notifies you of this in a message window.
14. If the configuration fails, do the following:
a. In the message window, select [Manual Install-
ation].
A file browser opens.
b. Navigate to the DENTALCAM & DENTALCNC
installation folder and select it.

Do not select the CNCTransfer folder
within the installation folder.
c. Select [Select folder].
