> INSTRUMENT CHECK
The instrument displays the test number and asks the user to insert the test. The test begins when cartridge
insertion is detected.
Use a special cartridge containing the IC test strip, designed only for the instrument check.
The test result is either pass or fail. Failed results do not display a test outcome, instead display "Error: {0}" as the
test result. The error code can be looked up in the Error section of this user manual. In case of a failed result, it is
recommended to turn the instrument power off and on again, and rerun the instrument check using an unused IC
cartridge.
The Instrument Check result window includes:
• Test Number
• Time and Date of Test
• Lot Number for the IC cartridge
• Expiry Date for the IC cartridge
• User ID
• Result
• LIS status
• Control line result
The result can be printed or exported to a USB key (see Section 7 for more information).

6.3 Liquid controls

> CONTROL TEST
Actim liquid control kits are available separately. When the instrument is used for
the first time, running successful positive and negative QC runs is recommended.
If the control testing is set to lockout by the admin user, the user is required
to run both a successful positive and negative QC test before a patient test is
allowed. Liquid controls may also be tested at any time in order to conform to local
requirements.
The liquid control test can also be performed in read only mode. The control status for individual test types can
be viewed through the control test menu.
