Instructions for Use
5.2

Pre-Treatment at the Application Location prior to Cleaning

Conduct the cleaning and disinfecting of contaminated instruments as soon as possible after use.
The following generally applies:
The sooner the inner lumina are cleaned, the better the result will be. If timely cleaning is not possible due
to the duration of the application or as a result of organizational aspects, the users must determine and
validate measures on their own responsibility to prevent the contamination from drying completely or to
ensure successful cleaning despite drying.
We generally recommend dry return transport in a closed transport container without the addition of
liquids, cleaning agents or disinfectants.
5.3

Preparation before Cleaning

Possible danger of injury to the patient from residues on the medical device!
Particles from cloths and brushes may get stuck on products with rough surfaces, threads, sharp edges,
narrow gaps or the like.
• Use only soft, clean and lint-free cloths for drying.
The brushes for ducts must be a little bit bigger than the inner diameter of the duct, and the shaft of
the brush must be at least as long as the duct.
A machine-based process (WD) must be used for cleaning and disinfecting. The information whether the
product has been validated for a manual procedure can be found at www.klsmartin.com/processing. Due
to the significantly lower effectiveness and reproducibility, a manual procedure – also using an ultrasonic
bath – should only be used if a mechanical procedure is not available.
When selecting the cleaning agent used, the material compatibility, suitability and effectiveness for
cleaning medical devices must be taken into account.
The concentrations, temperatures and exposure times specified by the manufacturer of the cleaning agent
and/or disinfectant as well as the specifications for rinsing must be observed. Use only freshly prepared
solutions, only sterile or low-germ (max. 10 germs/ml) and low-endotoxin (max. 0.25 endotoxin units/ml)
water (e.g. purified water/highly purified water) or only a soft, clean and lint-free cloth and/or filtered air
for drying.
Store the medical devices on carriers suitable for cleaning, e.g. trays or baskets. Observe the operating and
loading instructions of the W/D manufacturer.
