2 Scope of delivery

2.1

Checking the delivery for completeness and correctness

Immediately after receiving the delivery, check that it is complete and in good condition.
Report any damage that occurs during transit promptly.
After delivery of the product, check the original packaging and the packaging seal for intactness.
Sterile products with broken seals or damaged sterile packaging should be considered non-sterile; they are
not approved for use.

3 Intended use

3.1

Purpose

The L1 Rib Plating System is indicated for osteosynthesis in the thoracic anatomy.
3.2

Indications

The L1 Rib Plating System is indicated for surgeries requiring osteosynthesis of the chest wall, including
• stabilization and fixation of fractures
• osteotomies
• reconstructive procedures.
3.3

Contraindications

• Active infection.
• Not intended for screw attachment or fixation to the posterior elements (pedicles) of the cervical or
lumbar spine.
• Patient conditions including: blood supply limitations, insufficient quantity or quality of bone or latent
infections.
• Patients with mental or neurologic conditions who are unwilling or incapable of following postoperative
care instructions.
• Foreign body sensitivity: where material sensitivity is suspected, testing is to be completed prior to
implantation.
