5.1

Limitations and restrictions on cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization

5.1.1

SonicWeld Rx device

The actual SonicWeld Rx device is not located in the sterile part of the operating room.
Electric shock may result in patient death!
• Never allow liquids to penetrate the device.
• Disconnect all poles of the SonicWeld Rx® completely from the power source for cleaning, disinfection,
and sterilization.
• If liquids penetrate the device, dry at zero voltage.
5.1.2

Handpiece

• Do not immerse the handpiece in disinfection baths or ultrasonic baths.
• Disinfectants containing acetone may not be used for cleaning or disinfection.
5.2

Pre-Treatment at the Application Location prior to Cleaning

Possible danger of injury to the patient from residues on the medical device!
Particles from cloths and brushes may get stuck on products with rough surfaces, threads, sharp edges,
narrow gaps or the like.
• Use only soft, clean and lint-free cloths for drying.
Conduct the cleaning and disinfecting of contaminated devices as soon as possible after use.
The following generally applies: The sooner it is cleaned, the better the result will be. If timely cleaning is
not possible due to the duration of the application or as a result of organizational aspects, it is the users'
own responsibility to determine and validate measures to prevent the contamination from drying in place
or to ensure successful cleaning despite drying.
We generally recommend dry return transport in a closed transport container without the addition of
liquids, cleaning agents or disinfectants.
5.2.1 Handpiece
• Remove the sonotrode from the handpiece.
• Disconnect the connection cable with the handpiece from the ultrasound device.
• Brush the handpiece under water using a soft nylon brush until it appears visually clean.
