3.1
Intended use
Translux Power Blue is a unit that generates light for the polymerisation of light hardening
dental materials such as adhesives and fi lling materials in the oral cavity.
A highly effi cient, monochromatic LED diode (wavelenght 440 – 480 nm) is used
as a light source. Its intensity has a peak value where the wave length is near 460 nm.
NOTE!
Although most dental materials that can be polymerised are activated in
this wave length interval, if there is any doubt the technical data of the
GB
dental materials composites must be checked or the manufacturer must
be contacted.

CAUTION!
Qualifi ed specialists.
The unit must only be operated by appropriately trained specialist personnel
and the dentist (see paragraph 2.4 Owner's obligations). If the unit is used
correctly it will not cause any known side eff ects.
As opposed to conventional halogen lamps, the entire light radiated by the
Translux Power Blue is used to activate the camphorquinone photoinitiator.
This produces excellent polymerisation results with a signifi cantly lower output
without heat emission.
Furthermore, the light emitted by the diode is focussed on the fi bre optic by a special lens.
The unit consists of a charger and a hand piece, which is supplied by a rechargeable lithium
ion battery.
Translux Power Blue works with two diff erent exposure functions:
• Exposure with constant output: "Fast" (cycle duration 10 s or 20 s).
• Exposure with slowly increasing output: "Slow rise" (cycle duration 20 s).
NOTE!
Observe the exposure times of the materials specifi ed by the manufacturer.
For materials with specifi c exposure times (e.g. 30 / 40 sec. for dark
composites) repeat the exposure several times if necessary.

Safety instructions

The eff ectiveness of the safety instructions with regard to personnel protection, handling the
unit and handling the processed product is to a large degree dependent on the behaviour of
the staff working with the equipment.
CAUTION!
Prior to initial operation, carefully read through these Operating Instructions
and observe the information in order to avoid errors and subsequent damage,
particularly damage to health.
In addition to the instructions in this operating manual, comply with the
national laws, regulations, and directives in your country when setting up
and operating the unit.
