Operation of the Translux Power Blue

7.1

Safety instructions prior to operation

CAUTION!
Before every treatment, a check must be carried out to ensure perfect
operation of the unit and operability of the accessories. In the event of mal-
functions, the use of the unit and the treatment of patients are prohibited.
Please contact Customer Service if the malfunctions are related to the unit.
CAUTION!
Never point the light beam at eyes!
CAUTION!
Before every exposure cycle check that the fi bre optic is correctly seated
at the stop in the hand piece.
CAUTION!
Check before every exposure cycle to see if the protective guard is mounted
at the top end of the fi bre optic.
NOTE!
A damaged or ineffi cient fi bre optic must be replaced because the luminous
power is otherwise considerably reduced.
CAUTION!
Prior to every exposure cycle, check that the light intensity is suffi cient
at the integrated light sensor. If the luminous power is insuffi cient, patients
must not be treated (see paragraph 6.5 Connecting accessories).
DANGER OF EXPLOSION!
Do not short circuit the electrical contacts of the hand piece with metal
objects or liquids (see paragraph 6.4 Light intensity measurement).
CAUTION!
The charging contacts of the hand piece must not be short circuited!
Remove all jewellery on the hands (rings, bracelets, chains) before operating
the hand piece! Risk of short circuit or burning.
NOTE!
Direct contact between the fi bre optic and polymerisation material must be
avoided in the fi rst few seconds of exposure. Polymerised composite material
residues at the light-emission surface of the fi bre optic obstruct light emissi-
on and negatively aff ect the subsequent polymerisation cycles.
With Translux Power Blue, you can select between two types of exposure:
• Fast: Exposure times of 10 or 20 seconds at the maximum light power.
CAUTION!
Important: The "Fast" function, with an exposure time of 20 seconds,
can only be activated in the case of successive, i.e. repeated, exposures.
With the "Fast" function, it is not possible to start an individual exposure
of 20 seconds.
• Slow rise: exposure time 20 seconds with slowly increasing luminous power
in the fi rst three seconds up to maximum value.
