Checking or servicing the belt daily
The operator must check the seat belt daily in order to ensure that it is in good
condition and functions correctly before he uses the forklift. The following checks are
to be made:
– Pull the seatbelt all the way out, and make sure that it is not twisted.
– Check the function of the tongue and the drawing of the seatbelt into the retractor.
Check the automatic locking device as follows:
– Park the forklift on flat ground.
– Try to pull out the seatbelt with a jerk, whereupon the automatic locking device must
block the seatbelt from being pulled out.

The forklift must not be operated with the defective seat belt; rather, the belt
must be replaced immediately.
If the forklift was involved in an accident, the seatbelt must be replaced.
Damaged seatbelts that no longer function correctly must be replaced by a person
who is authorized to perform such work.
