Securing the mast
When transporting machines with the mast attached to the lift truck, no action is
required.
If it should become necessary to remove the mast for transportation purposes,
proceed as follows:
– Remove the forks from the carrier and
then follow the procedure outlined
under 'Securing the forks'.
– Remove the mast and fork carrier
from the lift truck.
– Weld a retaining rod (3) across the
lower parts of the mast and fork
carrier to prevent movements by the
mast and fork carrier, or if bore holes
are provided, insert bolts (2) through
the mast and fork carrier and tighten
them with a nut (4).
– Wherever possible, and particularly in
the case of tall masts, the lift chain
should be tied loosely to the lifting
cylinder, at a distance of no less than
1 meter / 3.28 feet, to ensure that the
chain does not strike against any parts during transport.
– To protect the paint, a thick layer of cardboard or rubber must be placed between
the chain and lifting cylinder, and all areas around the cylinder containing ties.
If it is not practical to attach the chain as described above, the free end must be
braced in a suitable location and care must be taken to ensure that the paint is not
damaged during transport.
NOTICE Apart from the welding steps shown in Figure 3, no welding work is performed
on the fork carrier profiles or the mast ducts.
Securing the forks.
Each set of forks is securely tied with
suitable tie material as illustrated in
Figure 4.
Securing
components on the lift truck.
After the forks have been tied together,
they are placed on the mast / fork carrier
and the fork stowage surface, which
prior to that have been hooked onto the
fork carrier. Then the fork unit is tied securely to the fork carrier, see Figure 5.
