Checking coolant level
– Check coolant level in the equalizing
tank (56).
Coolant level must be between the
"MIN" and "MAX" marks.
IMPORTANT If the coolant level is below the
"MIN" mark, this indicates a
leak in the cooling system. The
vehicle may be put back into
operation only after the cause
has been eliminated.

When refilling the system, use a premixed solution of water and antifreeze with the
same ratio as already in the system.
The system must be emptied by opening the drain cock in the radiator and on the side
of the cylinder block. This may involve brass drain plugs. When emptying the system,
remove the expansion tank cap and place it on the driver seat. This serves as a
warning that the engine contains no coolant.
If an antifreeze is not used, a suitable rust protection medium must be mixed into the
coolant.
The recommended concentrations and safety measures are located in Section 7 of
Chapter F.

– Switch ignition/starter switch (26) into
position "I".
– Check fuel level on the fuel gauge (2).
– If necessary top off diesel fuel (see
chapter F, section 3).
