Securing the lift truck
IMPORTANT It is recommended to have the lift truck transported by an authorized shipping
company by road, rail or ship.
All lift trucks transported by road, rail or ship have a common stowage method which
reduces the possibility of damaging the lift truck and paint.
A typical method for attaching the lift truck to the deck of a truck, railway car or ship
is as follows:
– Attach the rear part of the lift truck to the counterweight on a practical deck bolt
using a chain from the towing mechanism.
– Attach a belt crosswise across the base plate of the lift truck on a suitable deck bolt.
IMPORTANT Verify that the belt and chain are tensioned (see Figure 2).
The chassis is secured with the mast tilted completely to the back.
Lift trucks are usually transported as a whole, i.e., with the forks and the mast
attached to the lift truck. In the case of lift trucks from which the mast and the forks
have been removed, the following guidelines apply. If there is any doubt, please
contact the shipping company in charge.
