15. Disposal and recycling
Notes for packaging
The packaging materials are recy-
clable. Please dispose of packaging
in an environmentally friendly man-
ner.
You can find out how to dispose of the disused
device from your local authority or city adminis-
tration.
Fuels and oils
• Before disposing of the device, the fuel tank and
the motor oil tank must be emptied!
• Fuel and engine oil do not belong in household
waste or drains, but must be collected or disposed
of separately!
• Empty oil and fuel tanks must be disposed of in an
environmentally friendly manner.
16. Troubleshooting
Fault
The engine does not start, or it
starts but does not continue to run.
The engine starts, but it does not
run at full power.
Engine splutters.
No power under load.
Engine runs erratically.
Excessive smoke.
No power under load.
Engine dies.
Insufficient chain lubrication (saw
bar and chain become hot).

Possible cause
Incorrect starting procedure.
Incorrectly adjusted carburettor
mixture.
Sooty spark plug.
Clogged fuel filter.
Contaminated air filter.
Incorrectly adjusted carburettor

Incorrectly adjusted carburettor

Incorrect fuel mixture.
Chain blunt or chain loose.
Fuel tank empty or fuel filter

Remedy
Observe the instructions given in this manual.
Have the carburettor adjusted by the
authorised service centre.
Clean/adjust or replace the spark plug.
Replace the fuel filter.
Remove the filter, clean it and reinsert it.
Have the carburettor adjusted by the
authorised service centre.
Have the carburettor adjusted by the

Clean/adjust or replace the spark plug.
Have the carburettor adjusted by the
authorised service centre.
Use the correct fuel mixture (ratio 1:40).
Sharpen the chain or insert a new chain.
