SmartLink Desktop Software

This software is not intended for use on a network. Only a single instance of the application can access the database at one time.

Software files are shipped in a compressed format and will install on your hard drive in directory C:\Program Files\SmartLink Desktop unless you specify

otherwise when prompted by the setup program. You must install the software, not merely copy it to the hard drive.

Installing SmartLink software

Make sure you have Administrator privileges and write permission in the following locations:

Folder where you are installing SmartLink Software

•

Microsoft

Windows system folder

•

System registry

You must have permission to write to the necessary system registry sections. Refer to Using Local Users and Groups in your system's online Help,

which you can access by clicking Start on the taskbar.

Ensure that you meet the minimum system requirements listed above.

Disable all anti-virus programs operating on your system and close any open applications.

Insert the installation disc into your CD-ROM drive.

SmartLink™ Setup Wizard will start automatically. Follow on-screen instructions.

– If the wizard does not start automatically: Open the file: d:\setup.msi (where 'd' is the CD-ROM drive letter) to force the wizard to

start.

While logged in as Administrator, launch the application from the desktop icon.

If prompted to allow the application to pass through the firewall, select ALLOW.

uninstalling SmartLink software

Uninstalling removes all files that were installed using the SmartLink CD. Files created after SmartLink was installed, such as database and exported data,

are not removed. You can manually delete these files after uninstalling the software.

From the Windows Start menu, select 'All Programs'.

Select 'SmartLink Desktop'.

Select 'Uninstall'.

When the uninstall is complete, restart your computer to ensure that any files that may have been in use by your operating system are properly

uninstalled. Select 'Cancel' if you do not want to restart your computer immediately.

Card Reader Software and Drivers

The card reader requires no software. It is a plug-and-play accessory. All drivers are pre-loaded in the Microsoft

systems.
