Energy balance

Due to the different heat dissipation rates of electronic modules, high heat developments
may arise, depending on the selected option board assembly in the device.
This heat can be only partially cooled in the hermetically sealed housing IP67 and
discharged.
With Ecolab PC Setup program, it is possible to forecast the maximum possible heating of
the device electronics placed before the installation of option boards. You only need to
specify the option board assembly schedule and the maximum ambient temperature the
device can be subjected to during operation.
This energy balance calculation is based on the worst-case scenario. It considers the
maximum heat outputs of the respective option boards; the maximum base ambient
temperature can be set to either 40 ° C or 50 ° C.
If the planned option board arrangement exceeds the set limit of the energy balance, this
placement should only be put into continuous operation when the worst-case (40 or 50°C
and all option boards ambient temperature constantly simultaneously in maximum load) is
not permanent. This must be decided by the system designer.
For a comparable practical example: A car engine should not be operated continuously in
the "red" high speed range. Nevertheless, this is possible for short periods.
But increased wear is to be expected.
There is a demo version of Ecolab PC Setup program on the CD that comes with the
Ecolab 'Versatronic' . Alternatively, you can download the software on Ecolab's website for
free:

Setup.exe for detailed information on installing the PC setup program.

NOTICE!
Tips to prevent increased heat generation:
– Install the equipment in environments with moderate temperatures
– Avoid direct sunlight, as it leads to an extreme temperature rise in the
device
– Only assemble necessary parts
– Instead of analogue current / voltage outputs use digital interfaces
(Ethernet, RS422 / 485, etc.) for passing on readings on to the PLC /
control system
– Reduce the brightness of the LCD display to the required minimum
– Use a screen saver
