Positive pole of alternator (B+)

Following a design decision, the connector for the positive pole is aligned with the alternator shaft. A
tight output connection is guaranteed by a self-locking bush which ensures correct seal over time.
The body of the generator and the mounting supports also act as the generator's current return (circuit
earth). This path, starting from the chassis earth, must be designed to offer a low contact resistance
and feature a voltage drop of less than 0.1 V at the maximum generator output current value.

LIN connector

This is the final connecting element between NCM and intelligent alternator. There is a single wire, at
pin 1, for communication between NCM and IAM via LIN. Pin 2 is closed.

Voltage regulator

The voltage regulator is located in the alternator and, on the basis of a mutual exchange of information
with the NCM, allows the alternator output voltage to be regulated according to the parameters
requested by the NCM during driving. The voltage regulator is available as an individual spare part.

NCM

The NCM provides the intelligent alternator with commands via LIN according to driving style and the
parameters received via C-CAN from the NBC.
