REAR VIEW CAMERA

The rear view camera (RVC) system displays an on-screen mirrored image of the rear surroundings
behind the vehicle when the vehicle is in reverse.
The RVC is intended to be a back up viewing aid and is not promoted as an obstacle detection
or safety device.
Dynamic, gridlines are overlaid on the video image to illustrate the width of the vehicle and its
projected backup path based on the steering wheel angle and wheelbase.
A dashed center line overlay indicates the center of the vehicle to assist with parking or aligning to a
hitch/receiver. The different colored zones indicate proximity to obstacles behind the vehicle.
The video output is short-circuit protected to ground and vehicle battery.

YNAMIC RID VERLAY
The RVC shall contain the functionality to overlay dynamic, multicolor lines on the camera video
image. Lines are generated on the display by substituting camera image pixels with dynamic line
pixels.
Grid lines are used to represent the current or intended path of the vehicle. The center of the overlay
represents the center of the vehicle based on nominal vehicle position. Dynamic grid lines project the
vehicle's path based on the steering wheel angle while mimicking the maximum vehicle width at the
rear of the vehicle plus an additional width of 2 inches for all vehicles (1 inch per side). Typically the
maximum width of the rear fenders will be the widest part at the rear of the vehicle.
The grid pattern uses different colored regions to indicate proximity to obstacles:
red for the region closest to the bumper

yellow for the middle region of the grid line

 green for the region furthest from the bumper
