10| Reinsert the portafilter (without a filter bas-
ket) in the brewing unit.
11| Place a container with a capacity of at least
1 liter under the brewing unit (I) and hot
water outlet (J).
12| Press the 2-cup brewing button to start the
rinsing program. "C2" and a waiting cursor
are shown alternately on the display.
After approx. 5 minutes, the second part is
finished and "End" is shown on the display.
13| Remove the container. Empty the drip tray
(N) and reinsert it.
14| Press the 2-cup brewing button to return to
the operating mode. The cleaning program
is finished and the appliance is now ready
for use.
ATTENTION
This dispensed water is not suitable for
consumption!
NOTE
The cleaning and rinsing program can be can-
•
celed by pressing the ON/OFF button. Always
carry out the entire cleaning process or a final
independent rinse (see chapter "Using the
Appliance for the First Time").
During the constant display of "C2" the appli-
•
ance goes into standby mode after 60 min-
utes. You must then restart the cleaning
process or carry out an independent rinse (see
chapter "Using the Appliance for the First
Time"). In this case, a new cleaning tablet or
powder may be required.
In the event of a power failure or if the appli-
•
ance is disconnected from the mains during
an ongoing cleaning or rinsing program, you
must restart the cleaning process or carry out
an independent rinse (see chapter "Using the
Appliance for the First Time"). In this case,
a new cleaning tablet or powder may be
required.
8.9| DESCALING
The descaling program helps maintain
the machine, and must be started at the
latest when the descaling alarm lights up red. If
you make espresso frequently, hard water can
lead to limescale deposits in the system, which
can affect the brewing flow, pressure and tem-
perature as well as the espresso taste. For this
reason, we recommend to descale the machine
every 90 days regardless of the descaling alarm
NOTE
We recommend using a descaler suitable
for espresso machines. Follow the manu-
facturer's safety instructions, especially those
regarding what to do in the event of contact
with the eyes and skin. You must not use any
agents for descaling that are unsuitable for the
respective appliance (such as pure vinegar or
citric acid-based products). We recommend the
WMF liquid descaler.
Our warranty does not cover damage caused by
using unsuitable descaling agents or failure to
comply with the descaling instructions. Please
keep descaling agents out of the reach of chil-
dren and make sure that you do not inhale any
of the steam that is emitted during descaling.
To start the descaling program, proceed as
follows:
NOTE
The descaling process consists of two successive
parts – descaling and rinsing.
1|
Remove the water filter (8) from the
water tank (A)!
2| Dissolve 100 ml of the liquid WMF descaler
in 650 ml of water in the water tank (for
other products according to manufacturer's
instructions) and reinsert the water tank if
necessary. The amount of water must reach
the "CALC" mark on the water tank.
