5| SETTING UP THE APPLIANCE
1| Remove all existing stickers before assem-
bling and using the appliance for the first
time.
2| Clean and properly dry the machine, com-
ponents and accessories before the first use
and after extended storage as described in
the "Cleaning and Care" chapter. Do not for-
get the filter baskets in the storage tray (O).
Use the supplied cleaning cloth (13) to clean
all surfaces.
3| Ensure that the appliance is properly assem-
bled before first use.
5.1| FIRST TIME USE
1| Remove the water tank (A) and insert the
supplied water filter (8) using the installation
tool (9). Ensure that the water filter is cor-
rectly inserted in the water tank.
NOTE
Follow the safety instructions and the operating
instructions for the water filter.
2| Fill the water tank (A) with fresh drinking
water up to the "MAX" mark and insert the
water tank into the machine.
NOTE
Use only cold water of drinking water quality.

Do not leave the water in the device unused

for more than 4 days.

3| Insert the bean container (B) into the
machine by turning it clockwise until it clicks
into place and fill it with coffee beans.
4| Insert the portafilter (1) without a filter bas-
ket in the brewing unit (I) and turn the han-
dle to the right (from "Insert" to "Lock").

5| Connect the device to the mains and switch
it on using the power switch (L) on the right
side). Wait until the device has heated up and
is ready for operation – the buttons on the
control panel will stop pulsating.
6| Place a container with a capacity of at least
1 liter under all outlets of the device – brew-
ing unit (I), hot water outlet (J) and steam
lance (K).
7| Dispense a double espresso twice in succes-
sion without ground coffee by pressing the
2-cup brewing button. Use the portafilter (1)
without a filter basket.
8| Dispense approx. 80 ml of hot water twice in
succession by pressing the hot water button.
9| Dispense the steam once by pressing the
steam button.
