10| Remove the container. Empty the drip tray
(N) and reinsert it.
11| Set the water hardness as described in
chapter 7.1. The appliance is now ready for
use.
5.2| MAKING ESPRESSO
1| Select the appropriate filter basket (2) or (3)
according to the desired amount of ground
coffee (1 or 2 cups) and insert it into the
portafilter.
NOTE
Ensure that the filter basket is clean, dry and
•
free of any ground coffee from the previous
brewing process.
Use the back of the cleaning brush (10) or
•
the edge of another filter basket to remove
the filter basket from the portafilter easier.
2| Place the funnel (5) on the portafilter (1).
Turn the funnel clockwise on the portafilter
until it clicks into place.

3| Insert the portafilter (1) with the funnel into
the portafilter holder of the grinder out-
let (H).
4| Press the 1 or 2-cup grinding button accord-
ing to the desired amount of ground coffee
to start the grinding process. First the grind
setting and then the grinding quantity is
shown on the display.
NOTE
The grind setting may only be changed during
•
the grinding process. Turn the knob (E) clock-
wise to increase the grind setting which will
result in a coarser grind of the coffee powder.
Turn the knob counterclockwise to reduce the
grind setting which will result in a finer grind
of the coffee powder.
You can choose between 60 grind set-
•
tings (setting 1 = very fine, setting 60 = very
coarse).
The grinding process can be stopped at any
•
time by pressing the corresponding grinding
button again or the ON/OFF button.
