7.2 Quick Troubleshooting
Problem
The appliance is on but is
not working. The red LED is
steadily lit (APC automatic
protection circuit tripped).
The appliance is on but is not
working. The red LED flashes
(APC automatic protection
circuit tripped).
The appliance is on but is not
working. The red and green
LED flash alternately.
During operation
whistling noise can be heard
coming from the scaler hand-
piece.

Handpiece not connected to
the cord
Broken wire in the cord
Faulty handpiece
Tuning circuit malfunction
The insert is not present or
not correctly tightened on
the handpiece.
The insert is worn, damaged,

Power supply too low.
Power supply too high.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Description
Failed tuning scan protection tripped:
• Insert not present or not properly
tightened on the handpiece;
• The insert is worn, damaged, or
deformed;
• Handpiece/cord electrical contacts wet.
Connect the handpiece to
the cord

Unscrew and correctly re-
screw the insert
Replace the insert
Dry the connectors
Supply the correct power.

Unscrew the insert and screw
it back in correctly using the
Mectron torque wrench (See
Chapter 4.4 on page 14
of the Use and Maintenance
Manual)
Fill the irrigation circuit.
