Operation
The remaining battery capacity determines the distance
range of the power wheelchair. The battery capacity is influ-
enced by many factors. In addition to the temperature, age
of the batteries and amount of use, the charging cycle has a
pronounced effect on the capacity and therefore on the
range.
The batteries reach their full capacity only after 20 – 30
charge cycles. Only if the full capacity of the batteries has
been reached can the power wheelchair achieve the stated
range.
At temperatures of < 0 °C the battery capacity drops by up
to 35 % in relation to the capacity for an outside tempera-
ture of 20 °C. This shortens the range of the power wheel-
chair accordingly. Moreover the charge level displayed on
the control panel can differ more significantly from the actual
battery capacity.
For an optimal charging frequency the following applies:
„ The batteries can be charged at any time, regardless of
the remaining charge.
„ It takes about 10 hours until a discharged battery (low-
est segment in the battery symbol is flashing) is com-
pletely charged. When the charging process is complete,
the battery charger can remain connected with no risk of
overcharging or damaging the battery. The battery

charger features a programmed recharging phase that
will maintain the battery capacity at the previously
reached level.
„ For daily use, it is recommended to connect the charger
overnight so that the full capacity is available every day.
„ When the power wheelchair is not used for an extended
period of time, the battery will become discharged over
time. It is therefore necessary to charge the batteries at
least once a week to maintain full battery capacity. We
also recommend removing the fuse when the power
wheelchair is not going to be used for an extended period
of time.
„ Total discharge of the batteries should be avoided.
„ When the batteries are charging, the controls on the
power wheelchair must be switched off to allow the
charging current to be fed completely into the battery.
The following must be observed when charging the batter-
ies:
„ Only the battery charger provided by Ottobock for this
purpose may be used for charging. Failure to comply will
void the warranty.
„ The voltage settings on the battery charger must corre-
spond to the voltage used in your country.
